$125,000 Premise Liability
This incident occurred at a hotel on Fort Lauderdale Beach. Our client was preparing to take a shower in his hotel room when, upon touching the handle of the sliding shower door, the glass door suddenly shattered completely, sending shards of glass both inside and outside the shower.
Our client was taken to the hospital, where he was found to have a large, gaping laceration on his left hand. X-rays were performed, and under local anesthesia, the wound was irrigated and sutured. The initial diagnosis was a laceration of the extensor tendon in the client’s left small finger.
After returning home from out of town, the client consulted with a hand surgeon, who confirmed an extensor tendon injury and recommended surgical repair. The client underwent surgery that included irrigation and debridement of the left small finger, along with EDC and EDQ extensor tendon repairs. Hollander Law Firm successfully secured a $125,000 settlement on his behalf.
