$303,637.50 Bicycle Accident

Our was riding his bicycle eastbound across the Sunrise Boulevard Bridge over the intracoastal waterway when he encountered a construction area at the end of the bridge. There were no warning signs or barricades in place, and the surface contained a steep drop-off with loose limerock and other hazardous debris. As he rode over the loose material, his front tire was caught by a rock, causing the bicycle to slide out from under him.

He attempted to regain control but lost balance and went further into the construction zone, ultimately falling into a ditch. The bicycle struck the lip of the ditch, ejecting him over the handlebars and causing him to land face-first on the ground. Our client sustained multiple displaced facial bone fractures, fractures of both eye orbits, broken teeth, and severe lacerations and abrasions.

He underwent several surgeries, including open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) of the facial fractures, plastic surgery to repair complex lacerations, and oral surgeries to brace his jaws and repair his teeth and roots. Post-operative care included treatment for malocclusion resulting from bony relapse of maxillary fractures. Hollander Law Firm secured a $303,637.50 settlement on his behalf.
